Being that Kami Speed of Orlando, FL specializes in hard to find JDM goodies, it makes sense that the spec sheet for this shop car reads like a Japanese Hyper Rev volume. With numerous performance parts from such brands as Beatrush, Tomei, ARC, Varis, and more, it becomes very apparent that they have spared no expense in creating a company showcase vehicle. What you might not expect is that this Evo is not just eye candy, but is also intended to see road course competition as one of the owners’ goals. One might wonder how such an obvious show car could be intended for track use, however look a little deeper and you will notice that nearly every part and modification serves a functional purpose.
At the heart of the performance package is a medium sized Greddy 20g turbo kit aided by mild Tomei cams and gears, ARC intercooler, Sard 600cc injectors, a Fujitsubu Ti exhaust, and a Greddy boost controller along with a host of supporting modifications. Kami Speed even included a Kakimoto high performance cat keeping the emissions clean while still making an impressive 405 whp at 21psi on pump gas.
The chassis has been thoroughly reinforced with a plethora of Beatrush braces and supports. Meanwhile the stock suspension has been replaced with Tein Flex coilovers with Swift springs. Traction currently comes through 245/35/18 Yokohoma Neovas mounted on a set of Work Emotions.
The Varis aero kit may complete the look of a show car, however this is a completely functional aero kit offering great improvements in down force utilizing splitters, canards, and a large carbon fiber rear diffuser which not so subtly extends from the rear. Flowing to the cooling system and brakes are also improved through this rare but useful front fascia. The Beatrush front under tray completes the aero package improving underbody airflow.
On the interior, the driver and passenger are greeted with a pair of seats that most car nuts would sell their first born for (which is about the going rate for them), the Bride Gias Low Max carbon buckets. The driver is held in his seat with a Takata race harness while gripping on his quick release Nardi wheel to round out the package.
According to Kami Speed, the Evo will undergo several tweaks to the performance package to prep it for track use and is still a work in progress. This includes, but is certainly not limited to fully built internals. Despite these future plans, this Evo is probably a more complete vehicle than most will ever be able to achieve.
